Learning Activity 3.5, Task 4: What do I believe in?

In school, there are many rules and policies laid out that demand students obey them. However, if I were to pick from the best policy from policies such as dress codes, suspensions and expulsions, and restorative justice, I believe that restorative justice is the best.  Restorative justice seeks to examine the harmful impact of a crime and then determines what can be done to repair that harm while holding the person who caused it accountable for his or her actions. Today I'll cover my reasons, which include its compatibility with a school atmosphere, its social aspect, and its positive effects.     Firstly, while many people argue that restorative justice has its flaws, in regard to a schooling atmosphere, restorative justice can do a lot of good. For example, people argue it can only be solved in a case-for-case-styled way and is unrealistic. However, in a school atmosphere, problems are often solved in a case-for-case-styled way anyway, with each ch...

Learning Activity 3.5, Task 2: What has Influenced Me?

Image
Growing up in Cornwall, Ontario, I have been exposed to predominantly white cultural influences. However, the part of Cornwall I live in is a Muslim community, so the culture and influences I've gained were actually Islamic and Desi culture despite the mostly-white demographic. Cornwall Sign -Choose Ontario     The food in Cornwall is a big part of going out for me. My family and other Muslims in the community practically never eat out, because in the whole city there has only ever been one halal restaurant. As a Muslim in an Islamic atmosphere, the area of Cornwall I lived in mostly ate cultural dishes at home. We still go out or order from one of the only Halal restaurant options in the city, Shah's, which sells the pizza, wings, afghan, and desi food we would make at home anyway.      In terms of fashion, Cornwall isn't a very bougie town. The styles in Cornwall are mostly drawn from Western styles. The outfits in Cornwall range from West...

Three Artifacts which Carry Babylon Legacy into Modern Day History

Image
The Babylonian Empire was a rich and complex kingdom- and one of the largest of its time. It was mixed with unique cultural traditions, lavish temples, and laws of its own. However, in Babylonian civilization, there were few artifacts that continued their legacy into future civilizations and generations. Today, we will be naming those artifacts that represent a carried legacy of Babylon. The first is cuneiform writing, then The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, and last, but not least, Hammurabi’s Code. In this blog post, we’ll be discussing the nuances of these artifacts, their backstories, and how they continue their legacy till today. The first artifact we will be looking at is actually found in many different artifacts. It is found frequently in unburied Babylonian ruins and artifacts, written and carved.   Babylonia at the time of Hammurabi - Wikipedia      The first artifact that left a legacy in history is Babylonian cuneiform writing. The Fall of Babylon - Artifacts

Image
Many factors deal with the rise and fall of empires. The decline of the Babylonian Empire can be explained, however, by examining three artifacts: a fragmented ziggurat brick, a cuneiform tablet talking about economic strife, and a damaged relief with drawings showing foreign invasions. These artifacts, all together, illustrate the fall of religious, economic, and military pillars which contributed to the downfall of the Babylonian Dynasty.  Babylon - History Extra            Firstly, we can refer back to a fragmented ziggurat brick, connected to a broken wall of a ziggurat, to translate the dramatic fall of the Babylonian Empire. The ziggurat was a massive structure that was the core of Babylonian religious and cultural identity, and it is excavated proof of their spiritual worship. The discovery of fragmented ziggurat bricks suggests a deterioration in religious buildings. This shows a clear negative impact, as it show...

If I were Nabu-mukin-zeri (King of Ancient Babylon) Informing a Newly Conquered Kingdom.

Image
Here here!       In this decree, I shall bring your attention to the norms of Babylonian society. If you are to blend in with this society and be a part of it, you should know how things such as education, family life, religion, and laws work under my rule. You should first know education under Babylon rule.       Firstly, in order to gain any sort of basic education, cuneiform writing should be mastered and understood, as it is the base script of our Kingdom. Secondly, you should be acquainted with mathematics and astronomy, as it will be taught in schools, and you should know the basics of it, as the Babylonian society is a pioneer in developing new concepts in these realms. Thirdly, you should at least study basic literature and respect our mythology, as us Babylonians associate our identity with our mythology and folklore.       You should know family life if you are to start a family under my rule. The man provides f...
